Rather than an overwhelmingly (Authoritarian) Right wing Parliament, it is high time for a more balanced system and a real democracy in Britain. That must come at the next General Election.
The following two diagrams are from the pioneering Political Compass analysis.
The first diagram is an attempt to map the current topography of the political landscape using the visionary four way axis analysis of the traditional Left and Right along with a new vertical axis of Authoritarian and Libertarian. Unfortunately it is only limited to a small selection of parties and does not contain the broad policy positions of independents. The second diagram attempts to dispaly the general tendency of the New Labour era and the resultant imbalance in our system.
Ideally, I would like to see an augmented Political Compass involving other (Libertarian) Left parties and independents. At the polls, the more alliances between them, the better. Together, we can create a landslide of the magnitude, though not exactly the same kind, as 1945. The challenges we face are mountainous. All hands are needed at the pumps.
